As a result of the intermittent outages, we have received what could quite possibly be considered the most angry email that has ever been sent to support@backpage.com. Hopefully the rest of you don't feel the same way:

ReplyDeleteI understand that you were having a bad day with the outages;
however things do happen. I find it appalling that you could write such language when the dictionary is full of so many "more" words that you could have used. I find that the amount of energy that you expelled, you could have used it to do something good.
The next time you have a complaint, follow it up with a solution!!
I don't know, I can kind of understand this guys frustration, this site is near useless.
ReplyDeleteTake a look in the motorcycle section, it's loaded with ads from car dealers like Mossy...not even one motorcycle is listed.
Want a suggestion, try only allowing motorcycles to be posted in the motorcycles section.
That guy needs to get a life.... and take that lamp and shove it up his butt. I cant see how someone that uses a free service, can be soooooo abusive... when its having problems.... At my site dontlookanyfurther.com we look at that type of person as a fair weather visitor and really dont welcome the attitude. Carl keep doing your thing.

ReplyDeleteI feel that Backpage shouldn't charge as much as they do in the escort category because ya'll aren't getting nearly as much hits as Craigslist, that's a fact, according to www.Alexa.com! Backpage right now is basically competing with Craigslist. If you set the price to $5 per post like it is advertised in Atlanta instead of charging us 3 times the price when it's time to pay with my credit card. Backpage you are ripping people off. If you ask me this site is a rip off in certain ways.

Shows that teen is as dumb as he sounds. Modding FB or MS pages is not the same as running a big server for a website like backpage. Maybe he should go to school and learn something, starting with English.
Backpage is FREE, so you shouldn't complain. My only gripe is we need a better way to remove spam and overposted ads. The current method doesn't do anything as most people don't bother reporting it.
No wonder you can't sell anything. Your attitude is creating a force field.

ReplyDeleteOne might wonder who is the clueless one here. He doesn't even know what is involved in running a site like BP. The web servers, caches, databases, and a ton of other things like payment gateways, reporting servers, fraud detection, and administration.
But let's stay simple (cause he's pretty simple) Let's see, a billion hits a month would be about 386 hits a second. And each one of those may translate to a database call.... Do I even need to go further?
Oh yeah, his skills with "HTML codes" will do him proud in scaling up to to handle a billion hits a month :) Before long, he'll be talking about his 'SQL Codes" that can do it better than backpage.

It's not all that relevant to the info, however my wife just passed and seen the text blogger on the monitor. In her eyes, she really seen booger, and asked me why I was interested in boogers. I haven't laughed so hard in a few weeks.
