“Well, excuse me.” Backpage isn’t known for its prostitution ads (although there seem to be quite a few of them in the “escorts” section - the same ones which are posted to CraigsList regularly. CL has EARNED its reputation as “The SEWER of the Internet” and for good reason. It’s not just prostitution (including INTERNATIONAL TRAFFICKING) but overt drug dealing and general fraud regarding items for sale.

In my opinion as former law enforcement, CL has gone way beyond what free speech permits and has become a conduit for these illegal activities (and perhaps others I haven’t seen nor investigated) and should be shut down permanently, with its officers thrown in prison for facilitation and as accessories to every crime that has ever taken place over its servers. “Self-policing” doesn’t work when “the fox is the one guarding the hen house.”
